Nate transitioned to a 3.5 hour schedule. He also started sleeping much better and often didn’t even need to be soothed all the way to sleep. Nate’s eyesight seems to have improved much as well. He started following objects with his eyes and would fix his gaze on things. We even saw him following me with his eyes as I walked across the room one day.
Week Six
At six weeks, we took Nate on his first road trip to NYC to visit Grandma and Grandpa Kim. We left at 3:40 AM and he slept 3 hours straight in the car. It was definitely a treat for Grandma and Grandpa Kim to see Nate again and of course, there were more pictures taken of him!
Nate really started smiling and cooing at us a lot and we often saw him cooing at his “mobile buddies” (the various animals hanging from his mobile). He's starting to enjoy some of his toys, such as the mobile, bouncer, and swing as well. He also started to get better at lifting up his head while lying on his tummy and holding it for a good while.
Nate smiled at me for the first time from his car seat! Brandon thought it was funny that I even took note of it but how could you not!
Nate seemed to be able to bear weight on his legs and briefly stand when we hold him on our laps. Nate’s also a master at blowing bubbles (I hear that this is a “milestone” of some sort, although I don’t know why) and has got even better at holding up his head and tracking objects across the room. Nate rolled over from tummy to back one day but it may have been just a coincidence since he hasn’t done it again. We’ll keep working on that one!
Week Eight
Nate watched his first Yankees baseball game (a rerun) and he was fixated on the TV. We had him sitting in his bouncer near us but we were surprised (and proud) to find that he was watching the game rather than paying attention to the toys on his bouncer. A Yankees fan in the making!
Nate is now being more social than ever and his repertory of squeals, gurgles and coos is growing. It seems like he makes some new noises every day now and I often have trouble nursing because he loves to interact with me. Also, Brandon was able to get a reaction out of tickling him and he also held onto a rattle placed in his hands for a while and even gave it a few shakes. Lastly, we attempted bottle feeding with Nate. It didn’t go too well but we hope to be able to slowly introduce him to it soon. That's all for now! Thanks for reading!
